Learning to ski alongside other children of the same age and level is not only more fun — it works better. We run group ski lessons for children in Baqueira Beret with 3 to 7 in a group, qualified instructors specifically trained in teaching children, and a method where technique and play are the same thing.
We work so your child is not simply going to a lesson. They are going to their best day on the snow.
There is a real difference between twelve children with one instructor and five. It is not just a matter of numbers: it is methodological, emotional and technical.
We have spent more than two decades teaching children in Baqueira, across every level from three-year-old beginners to young racers in training. What we have learned is that a child progresses when they feel safe, noticed, and challenged at their own level. Not before.
All our instructors hold an official TD1, TD2 or TD3 qualification and proven experience with children. Being able to ski is not enough. You have to know how to teach a frightened five-year-old, a seven-year-old who is bored without a challenge, and a ten-year-old who wants to go faster than their technique allows. That is learned over years on the snow, not from a manual.
We build each group by assessing every child's actual level, not by filling gaps in a timetable. If needed we ask families for a short video on WhatsApp before the first lesson to be sure the group is well matched. That is the difference between a week of progress and a wasted one.
If a group does not reach three children, we ask families whether they would rather share the session as a two-person private lesson at that rate, or wait for the standard group to fill. We never put children of incompatible levels together to fill a slot.
This is not a headline we wrote. It is what the families who have trusted us say. More than 135 reviews and an excellent rating. In Baqueira Beret, where there are dozens of schools, holding that level of satisfaction for years does not happen by accident.
Group children's ski lessons in Baqueira are not a nursery on snow. They are structured technical sessions in which play is the teaching tool, not the point.
From the basic stance and control of balance and centring, through to the first snowplough turns and the transition to parallel, every session has a clear technical goal. What changes compared with adult lessons is the language, not the rigour. A six-year-old can learn to control speed on the same technical basis as an adult, if you teach it the right way.
We work in Carreretes 1 and 2, whose gradient and conditions suit children starting out. When their level allows, we move on to Rabadà and Cabana, or further across the resort, so they meet new terrain that consolidates what they can already do.
Games are not the break between technical exercises. They are the technical exercise. Through specific games children work on balance, orientation on the piste, speed control and confidence in sliding, without registering it as effort. We use the terrain, its natural features and the different snow conditions so that each session presents something new to learn from.
For the youngest, who are not yet making snowplough turns, we run a separate format: groups of no more than four or five children with two instructors at once. The ratio is that of a private lesson, the price sits between group and private, and the attention is complete. It is the safest and most effective way to make a first encounter with skiing something they want to repeat rather than forget.

We run group children's lessons in two time slots, so the day on the mountain fits how each family actually works:
The afternoon slot suits families arriving the day before, or who prefer a quieter morning in the resort. In high season both groups run at the same time.
All children's lessons start beside the Silla del Bosque lift in Baqueira, at 1800 m. It is a sheltered, accessible spot that every instructor on the team knows well. Parents can walk their children to the meeting point, watch the lesson begin and collect them in the same place afterwards. No moving around, no complicated logistics.
Ski equipment — skis, boots and poles sized to your child — can be hired in the resort. If you are unsure what suits their age or level, ask us before you come: it will save you time and money.

Group children's ski lessons in Baqueira Beret are organised by level:
If you do not know what level your child is at, that is fine. Send us a video on WhatsApp and we will tell you which group fits best.
A maximum of 7 children per group, so individual correction stays effective and the pace keeps moving. A minimum of 3 to open a group. If your slot does not reach that minimum, we offer real alternatives:

A certified helmet — compulsory for all under-18s in Baqueira Beret.

Places in the children's groups are limited. In high season the morning groups in particular fill before the afternoon ones in the first days after opening.
The standard group lessons are for children from age 5 who already have some control, or who are starting from scratch with that level of motor development. For complete beginners aged 3 to 5 we offer a special format: groups of no more than five children with two instructors at once, priced between group and private. Ask about availability on WhatsApp.
Standard groups have between 3 and 7 children per instructor. If a group does not reach 3, we ask families whether they would rather continue as a shared private lesson, at that rate, or wait for the group to fill. We never form groups larger than 7: we would rather turn a place away than lower the quality of the lesson — unless it is an existing private group and they specifically ask.
Before the first lesson we assess each child's level. Where possible we ask you to send a short video of them skiing on WhatsApp before the week starts. That lets us place them in the right group from day one, without losing time adjusting to a level that is not theirs.
Yes. Helmets are compulsory for all under-18s in Baqueira Beret, and are an Alpine Ski Academy rule at any age.
We never force a situation. Our instructors are trained to read each child's physical and emotional state and adapt the session as they go. If a child needs to stop, we stop. A positive experience always comes before the technical goal of the day — in the long run that is what makes them want to come back. If anything arises that could affect the child or the group, we review it after the session with the whole Alpine technical team and discuss it with the family to find the best way forward.
For children in their first sessions we recommend parents are not present. The bond with the instructor forms faster and more naturally without that familiar reference point nearby. At the end of the lesson we arrange a run together so parents can see the progress. You are always welcome to watch from somewhere close by, ideally without the youngest ones seeing you.
Not strictly, but it is strongly advisable. Places are limited and in high season — Christmas, February and Easter — they go quickly. We recommend booking at least a week ahead by WhatsApp, phone or email.
In group lessons your child shares the session with others of a similar age and level, which adds social motivation and a shared learning rhythm. In private lessons the instructor works solely with your child, adapting each exercise to how they respond in the moment. For children who are frightened, who have particular needs, or who want to progress very quickly, private is the more effective option.
