Alpine Ski Academy has spent more than 24 years teaching children to ski in Baqueira. Many of those early students now bring their own children to us. Lessons that are personal, safe and matched to each age, so they learn while enjoying it from the first day.
Choosing one-to-one lessons for your child is not only about pace: it is about safety, confidence and real results. A qualified instructor working solely with them, on the right slope for their level that day, making decisions in real time about speed, route and duration — without the fastest child in a group setting the pace for the one who needs it most.
Each session is designed for that child, on that day. Their energy, their mood, the state of the slope, the temperature. The instructor adapts goals, area and duration as they go. There is no rigid protocol — there is judgement.
Balance, basic stance, snowplough braking, first turns, parallel, edge control, an introduction to carving. The technical sequence follows the child's pace, not a syllabus. The usual result: progress parents notice at the end of each day, and the child notices run by run.
At the end of the session the instructor talks you through what was covered, the day's progress and the plan for the next lesson. By WhatsApp too, if you prefer. You know exactly where your child is and what comes next.
Our instructors choose the slope, the pace and the exercises according to age, level, weather and how the child is that day. We try never to force a situation. A positive experience matters more than the technical goal of the day.
Meeting point in Baqueira, Beret or Bonaigua depending on where you are. Pick-up from the nursery, hotel or restaurant if you need it. Drop-off at the same place or a different one. We arrange it for you.

We do not teach children the way we teach adults. The Alpine Method pairs real technical progress with a positive experience as an equal, inseparable aim. The two do not compete; they reinforce each other. A child who enjoys it learns faster. A child who learns solid technique enjoys it more every season.
Every lesson has a structure: an initial read of how the child is that day, choice of area and duration, adapted goals, a working rhythm, and a break when one is needed. Not rigid. Considered.
Tip connectors for the first days — they help hold the snowplough position, aid stability and support learning by feel from the very first contact with snow. A back protector is recommended at every level, and poles only when the instructor says so. We bring the tip connectors and sun cream if they are needed. The rest of the kit the child brings, or hires easily in the resort.
In Baqueira: the beginners' magic carpet and button lift, Carreretes 1 and 2, Rabadà, Cabana, Clot der Os, Desvío del Tamarro, Cascada and Tortuga for children who already turn confidently.
In Beret: the beginners' magic carpet, the snow park and the Fun Park for intermediate levels.
In Bonaigua: Argulls and the gentler areas when the child's level allows. The area is not chosen by the timetable or the lift pass — the instructor chooses it based on the child that day.
Balance, turning, braking, speed control: all of it can be taught through play without the child registering it as an exercise. Where there is motivation and enjoyment, technique sticks better. That is not theory — it is 24 unbroken years of practice with hundreds of children in Baqueira.
In particular cases we work with children from 2.5 years, provided they walk confidently and are out of nappies. At that age the lesson lasts an hour at most. The aim is not technical: it is for the child to have a good experience that sparks their curiosity about snow. They set the pace, and the length too. We work around naps, mealtimes and whatever the child needs, without exception.
Balance on snow, basic braking, the snowplough position and first turns, all through play. Gentle terrain: the beginners' magic carpets, Carreretes 1 and 2, the Cabana area in Baqueira, and the beginner zones in Beret. Tip connectors and a back protector are the usual support at this stage.
Refined snowplough turns, an introduction to parallel, speed control and independence on simple lifts such as the Rabadà button lift. New areas as they progress: Clot der Os, Desvío del Tamarro, Cascada and Tortuga in Baqueira; the Fun Park in Beret; Argulls in Bonaigua. We combine genuine technical demand with constant motivation.
Basic carving, adapting to different snow types, dynamic skiing on more demanding pistes. For teenagers with a good level we introduce technical circuits and steeper terrain within Baqueira Beret. The approach is challenging, respectful, and built so the skier feels the progress is their own.

Without the right clothing, the best lesson in the world loses half its value. Here are the essentials to keep your child comfortable, safe and full of energy for the whole session.
Tip connectors if it is their first time or they have not mastered the snowplough (we provide these)
Poles only if the instructor says so
We bring the tip connectors if they are needed. The rest of the kit the child brings, or hires in the resort.
See our ski rental options in BaqueiraGenerally from age 3, and in particular cases from 2.5, provided the child walks confidently and is out of nappies. From 2.5 the lessons last an hour at most and the aim is purely about the experience: that their first time on snow is a good one.
We never force it. Our instructors are trained to read how a child is feeling and adapt the lesson as they go. If they need to stop, rest or simply watch for a while, we respect that. Emotional wellbeing always comes before the technical goal of the day. A child who leaves happy comes back the next day wanting more.
With children just starting out we recommend parents are not present during the lesson: the bond with the instructor forms more easily without that reference point. At the end we arrange a short run together so you can see everything they have learned. If there are particular circumstances, we discuss them beforehand. And of course you are welcome to watch from a distance, ideally without the child noticing.
Yes, always. When we hand your child back, the instructor talks you through what was covered, the day's progress and the plan for the next session. We can send it by WhatsApp too, if you prefer.
Yes. If you need it and it fits the instructor's schedule, we collect from the nursery, the hotel or the restaurant, and drop off wherever suits you best. We arrange it directly on WhatsApp before each day.
Yes, it is our priority. Continuity with the same instructor matters enormously for a child's confidence and progress. If scheduling makes a change unavoidable, we tell you in advance.
