Skiing beyond Baqueira: a new Alpine experience

Why Alpine

A New Dimension of Skiing

After so many seasons together in Baqueira, we know that for many of you skiing is far more than a sport. It is escape. It is intensity. It is technique, landscape, feeling, family. It is a way of living the winter through experiences that feed body and mind and stay with you for life.

That is where Alpine Ski Academy Trips comes from: something for people who want to keep exploring the world through skiing, alongside the instructors they already know, in the places they have always wanted to see.

Each season we will choose one landmark destination and build a complete trip around it: technical, cultural, scenic and human. Places where alpine ski culture is in every village, every lift, every descent. Legendary Alpine resorts combining history, tradition and landscapes that stop you in your tracks.

For the 2026–2027 season we are going to Les Trois Vallées, in the French Alps. The largest linked ski area in the world. An experience that is not only technical: it is a privilege. Open both to those who grew up with our school in Baqueira and to anyone who wants to join this way of travelling and skiing.

Our approach

Destination 2026: Les Trois Vallées, France — Based in Méribel

In the first two weeks of April 2026 we begin our second trip outside Baqueira, to a destination that needs little introduction: Les Trois Vallées, in the heart of the French Alps in Savoie. The largest linked ski area in the world: 600 kilometres of pistes, 347 marked runs and 155 lifts connecting 7 resorts without ever taking your skis off.

Our base will be Méribel: the central valley of Les Trois Vallées, the most strategic point in the area and, not by chance, the choice of people who know it well for a full week's skiing.

Trip details

Trip dates

  • First two weeks of April 2026
  • 5 days of skiing with the lift pass included
  • Travel on the first day, return on the last

Accommodation — two options depending on budget

Option 1 — On the slopes in Méribel or Méribel-Mottaret
  • Apartment or hotel with direct piste access (ski-in / ski-out)
  • Maximum convenience and no wasted time: you ski from the door
  • The more premium option
Option 2 — In Brides-les-Bains
  • A spa village at 1,100 m with a direct gondola to Méribel
  • The more economical option, without giving up easy access to the ski area
  • Ideal if you prefer somewhere quieter off the mountain

Access and transport — three options

  • By car from Spain: roughly 9–10 hours from Barcelona by motorway. Very convenient for families with their own equipment.
  • Fly to Geneva: the closest airport to Les Trois Vallées. From there a transfer of about 2h30 to Méribel.
  • Fly to Lyon: a common alternative with good connections. A transfer of about 2 hours to Méribel.

In every case, Alpine Ski Academy arranges the airport transfer or coordinates the travel logistics around the group's needs.

What will we do there?

  • Daily guiding across the ski area with our instructors: Méribel, Courchevel, Val Thorens, Les Menuires and Saint-Martin-de-Belleville.
  • Technical sessions matched to each level in the group.
  • Exploring the whole of Les Trois Vallées without taking your skis off.
  • Personal assistance throughout: bookings, logistics and guidance.
  • Après-ski, local food and alpine culture (optional).

Why this destination

Why Méribel and Les Trois Vallées?

This was not a random choice. We know the area, we have skied there, we have travelled the valleys and we know what they offer for a week of serious skiing. Méribel is not just a resort: it is the geographic heart of Les Trois Vallées and the perfect place to explore all of it from.

The Largest Linked Ski Area in the World: 600 km Without Taking Your Skis Off

600 kilometres of pistes. 347 marked runs. 155 lifts. 7 interconnected resorts: Courchevel, Méribel, Les Menuires, Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, Val Thorens, Brides-les-Bains and Orelle. All on a single lift pass, without ever taking your skis off. In practice that means you can ski a whole week without repeating a run.

To put that in perspective: 600 kilometres is the distance from Val Thorens to Paris. That is what you have under your skis.

Méribel: the Central Valley, the Perfect Base

Méribel sits in the central valley, which makes it the most strategic point in the area. From here two lifts take you to Courchevel and four to Val Thorens or Les Menuires, on skis and with no transfer. It is the best place to explore the whole area efficiently, without losing time getting around.

Its terrain is the other reason: open high-altitude pistes combined with long descents through pine and fir forest, which makes it ideal when the weather turns. On a day with high cloud, the trees around Méribel are the perfect refuge for skiing on with visibility and good snow. On a clear day, from the summits of Mont du Vallon at 3,000 metres, the view over the Alps is unbeatable.

An Area Made for Family Skiing: Every Level Together

More than 57% of the runs in Les Trois Vallées are green or blue, which makes the area genuinely suitable for every level. A parent skiing reds and a child learning the snowplough can ski together in the morning and separate without difficulty so each gets the terrain that suits them. In the afternoon they meet again.

In Méribel, the blue run Le Raffort drops several kilometres through fir trees in complete solitude, ideal for families. La Combe du Vallon, with more than 950 metres of vertical from Mont du Vallon, is one of the longest and most technical runs in the whole area for anyone after something more serious. And Val Thorens, four lifts away, holds snow into May thanks to its altitude above 2,300 metres.

Reliable Snow in April: the Altitude Works in Our Favour

In April, when other resorts are closing or skiing on patchy spring snow, Les Trois Vallées is still in good shape. Val Thorens, the highest resort in Europe with reliable snow between 2,300 and 3,200 metres, holds good conditions until the season closes in mid-April. The area runs from December to April: our dates fall at the end of that, but on high-altitude snow of the best quality.

Unmatched Infrastructure: 155 Modern Lifts and Immaculately Groomed Pistes

Les Trois Vallées has 155 modern lifts, including high-capacity cable cars, gondolas and fast chairlifts. Queues are minimal for an area of this size, and the piste management is among the most professional in the Alps. It is an area that runs without friction.

Bespoke trips

A Tailored Trip for Your Family or Group?

We can also design fully bespoke private trips around your dates, destination and preferences. We do not sell fixed packages: each trip is built around who is coming, how many, what levels they are and what they want from it.

We have designed this trip to be as flexible as it needs to be: from a single family travelling alone who want it entirely tailored, to several families or groups of friends joining together to share the cost and the experience. In every case the organisation, guiding and management of the ski area are ours.

The Destination of Your Choice

Les Trois Vallées is this season's destination. If you would rather go elsewhere, or have a particular Alpine resort in mind, ask us: we can organise private trips to any European destination.

Flexible Dates

The main trip runs in the first two weeks of April 2026. If those dates do not work, talk to us: we can organise a private trip for your group whenever suits you best.

No Minimum Level Required

There is no minimum skiing level. If the group is mixed, we arrange instructors in level blocks so everyone progresses on suitable terrain and comes back together where the area allows. The instructor cost adjusts to how the group is structured.

Request a Proposal, With No Obligation

Tell us how many of you there are, the dates, roughly what levels and the kind of experience you want. We will prepare a detailed proposal with a price suited to your trip.

This is not just any trip. It is the chance to ski the largest area in the world with a guide who knows it, in your own language, with the organisation that characterises Alpine Ski Academy in Baqueira. Everything you have known with us in Baqueira, moved to the Alps.

There is no required minimum. If the group has different levels we arrange instructors in blocks so each person works on terrain that suits them and rejoins the others where the area allows. More than 57% of the runs in Les Trois Vallées are green or blue.

No. The instructor fee is the same for all the days included, whether or not you use the lessons and guiding.

The difference is real knowledge of the destination, and having an instructor with you who knows the area, speaks your language and adapts each day to the snow conditions and your group's level. We are not a travel agency: we are the instructors taking you with us and guiding you as though you were our own students in Baqueira. That is not something a catalogue sells.

That is part of the mountains. Les Trois Vallées has an enormous advantage: the trees around Méribel are perfect when there is fog or bad weather higher up, and Val Thorens holds snow and visibility thanks to its altitude when the rest of the area is clouded in. We know the area and always know where to take you to make the most of the day.

There is no required minimum. We can organise the trip for a single person. The more of you there are, the further the instructor cost spreads. We prepare an exact quote for your group.
