If you are coming to ski in Baqueira without your own equipment, renting the right kit makes a real difference to how much you enjoy it.
Alpine Ski Academy is a ski and snowboard school, not a rental shop. What we add, free of charge, is personal advice so you choose equipment suited to your level, your discipline and the conditions on the mountain.
We work with shops in convenient, well-placed locations in Ruda and Vielha, carrying new, up-to-date equipment for every level: from complete beginners to expert skiers on piste, all-mountain, freeride or freestyle.

We help you choose the right equipment at no extra cost. The service comes with any ski or snowboard lesson booking and has one purpose: that you reach the slopes with kit suited to your level, your discipline and your goals.
We will tell you which skis, boots and protection to ask for. If you are booking lessons for children or adult beginners, this advice is particularly worth having.
We advise on helmets, sizing and safety so that children's lessons, group or private, go well.

Wherever possible we recommend collecting your equipment the day before, particularly if your lesson is first thing. That way you avoid rushing, can try the boots properly and get any adjustments made before heading up.
If you have to collect on the day itself, we recommend arriving at least 45 minutes before before your lesson. The shops open at 8:30 h, which gives you enough time to sort everything out if your ski or snowboard lesson starts at 9:30 h.

No. Rental is a separate service. We help you arrange it simply and at no extra cost, but you pay the shop directly. In return, there is something extra for you for coming through us.
Yes, though we recommend collecting the day before if your lesson starts early. The shops open at 8:30, so if you arrive with enough time — around 45 minutes before the lesson — the morning works fine too.
As a guide, rental runs from around €15 a day up to about €70 a day, depending on whether you take skis only or the full kit, and on the range you choose. The shop sets the price, and it varies with the type of equipment, the number of days and what is included. We do not handle the rental payment, but coming through Alpine Ski Academy gets you something extra. Ask us and we will point you to the option that suits you.
Helmets are compulsory for all under-18s in Baqueira Beret. For adults they are strongly recommended, and we advise them for every one of our students whatever their age. If you do not have your own, you can hire one at the same shops where you collect the rest of your equipment.
A full rental package usually includes skis, boots and poles. The helmet may be included or hired separately depending on the shop. Back and coccyx protection are normally optional. When we confirm your booking we will tell you exactly what you need for your level and type of lesson.
It depends on each shop's policy, but many of the ones we recommend will swap equipment at no extra cost if you move to the same or a lower range, if snow conditions change, or if the first set simply is not right. That is one of the advantages of using the shops we work with.
In high season — Christmas, February and Easter — yes, particularly for high-end equipment or specific children's sizes. Because we work with these shops, your kit is usually ready before you arrive, which cuts the waiting considerably.
All three have good options. Ruda is closest to the slopes, Salardú is very convenient if you are staying in the village, and Vielha has more choice and sometimes better prices. We will recommend whichever suits where you are staying.
Yes. The shops we work with carry boards, boots and bindings for every level. If you are taking snowboard lessons with us, we will advise on the right equipment for your experience and goals.
