1. The Official Baqueira Beret App — The First One to Install

Baqueira Beret (Official App)
Completely redesigned for the 24-25 season by Doonamis using native technology — that is, built specifically for iOS and Android rather than a website wrapped in an app. The result is noticeably faster and smoother than the previous version.
What is most useful day to day: real-time piste and lift status, webcams at several points around the resort, an interactive 3D map, and the option to top up your BaqueiraPASS and BaqueiraTICKET straight from your phone without going to the ticket office. It also lets you share your position with your group in real time — extremely useful when you are skiing with families or with groups of mixed levels and you end up at different lifts.
New for 26-27: Strava integration, so you can upload your runs at the end of the day with a single tap.
📱 Available on: iOS (App Store) · Android (Google Play)
💡 Instructor's tip: Download it before you get to the resort and set up the piste status notifications. On days of partial opening, knowing which sectors are open before you leave the hotel saves you 30 minutes of pointless queuing.
2. Snow Forecast Apps — Decide When to Ski

Snow Forecast
The benchmark for resort-specific snow forecasting. It has data for Baqueira Beret broken down by altitude — 1500, 1800 and Beret — with forecasts for snowfall, temperature and wind. The colour-coded interface makes it very easy to pick out the best days of the week at a glance.
Especially useful for planning a trip in advance: the 10-day model is fairly reliable in the Pyrenees and lets you adjust your arrival date if a significant snowfall is coming mid-week.
📱 Available on: iOS · Android · Web: snow-forecast.com/Baqueira-Beret
OpenSnow
The most detailed weather model available for the mountains. Unlike Snow Forecast, OpenSnow has mountain-specialist meteorologists who write daily analysis — not just numbers. The free version gives you a basic forecast; the paid one (around €30/year) unlocks the archive, customisable alerts and the high-resolution model analysis.
For skiers planning a whole season, or travelling for several days, the premium version is one of the best investments you can make.
📱 Available on: iOS · Android · Web: opensnow.com/Baqueira-Beret
💡 Instructor's tip: The perfect combination for Baqueira: Snow Forecast for a quick read on the week's snowfall, OpenSnow for understanding how the 10-day model is evolving while you are planning the trip from home.
3. On-Piste Tracking and Performance Apps

Ski Tracks
The most solid and well-established app for recording ski statistics. It uses your phone's GPS to measure distance covered, top and average speed, cumulative vertical, moving time and number of runs. At the end of the day you get a full summary with a map of all your tracks overlaid on the resort piste map.
It works without an internet connection — crucial in parts of Baqueira with patchy coverage, such as the Beret sector or the Argulls itineraries. One of its advantages over the alternatives: it uses very little battery, so you can leave it running all day without worrying.
📱 Available on: iOS · Android
💡 Instructor's tip: It is perfect for following your progress week by week. Watching your average speed or your cumulative vertical go up over the course of the season is one of the best indicators of real technical improvement — and it is hugely motivating.
4. Outmap — The Real FATMAP Replacement for Freeride and Off-Piste
Outmap (formerly FATMAP)
FATMAP shut down for good on 1 October 2024 after being acquired by Strava. The functionality that was folded into Strava is minimal and does not replace what FATMAP offered for ski touring. If you were still using FATMAP, it is time to move on.
Outmap is the most complete replacement available right now. Founded by a team of Canadian ski tourers, it has Dave Cowell — FATMAP's original founder — as an adviser. It offers 3D maps with high-resolution winter satellite imagery, freeride and ski-touring routes, slope-angle and aspect analysis, and offline use with downloaded maps. It is the tool mountain guides use to plan descents in complex terrain.
For anyone skiing Baqueira's off-piste — Escornacrabes, Teso dera Mina, the itineraries on the Bonaigua — or heading out ski touring, Outmap is currently the best way to study the terrain before you drop in.
📱 Available on: iOS · Android · outmap.pro
💡 Instructor's tip: Before you attempt any off-piste itinerary in Baqueira, study the line in Outmap the night before: slope angle, sun aspect and wind exposure. Twenty minutes at home saves you nasty surprises on the mountain.

5. Carv — The App That Changes How You Learn to Ski

Carv Digital Ski Coach
Carv is in a category of its own. It is not an information app or a GPS tracker — it is a system for biomechanical analysis of how you ski. The sensors (Carv 2, launched in November 2024) clip to the outside of your boots and record gyroscope and acceleration data 20 times a second, detecting not only how you move but what kind of snow you are skiing on.
The result is expressed as a Ski:IQ — a score from 0 to 200 that represents your real technical level. The average skier on piste scores around 100. Intermediates score between 110 and 125. Experts between 125 and 140. Professionals above 140. The app analyses more than 500 million recorded turns and compares them with the patterns of certified instructors to give you real-time feedback through headphones while you are on the chairlift.
Carv 2 introduces automatic terrain analysis — the app can tell whether you are on groomed snow, off-piste, moguls or powder, and adjusts your Ski:IQ accordingly. You can no longer game the system by skiing only easy pistes to inflate your score.
The 10 metrics it analyses: balance / centring, edge similarity, fore-aft balance, transition timing, rotational balance, vertical acceleration through the transition, left-right symmetry, progressive pressure, knee angulation and turn initiation timing.
📱 Available on: iOS · Android · getcarv.com
🎿 Alpine Ski Academy + Carv: At Alpine Ski Academy we are competitively ranked users on the Carv platform. We use the sensors in our private lessons to give you data no human eye can register in real time: how quickly you start edging in a left turn compared with a right, whether your fore-aft balance holds up in short turns, or how your Ski:IQ varies between groomed snow and soft snow. If you already have your own Carv sensors, we work with your historical data. If not, we provide them for the lesson. The result is a session with a level of technical precision that nothing else can match.
