Organising a team building day usually ends the same way: an escape room, a dinner with forced group exercises, or a motivational talk nobody remembers a week later. The team gets together, ticks the box, and goes back to the office exactly as it left.
Skiing in Baqueira Beret works differently. There is no script to follow and no role to play — there is a real slope, a different level of fitness in each person and a shared challenge that cannot be faked. We have seen it running dozens of ski team building days for companies in Baqueira: the teams that arrive not knowing what to expect are the ones that take the most back with them.
Logistics, the real challenge of a group ski team building day
The most common fear is not the cold or the ski level — it is the logistics. Whoever organises the day tends to imagine the worst case: half the team has never skied, the other half has skied since childhood, and everyone ends up waiting around for hours or, worse, frustrated at a pace that is not theirs.
It is a legitimate worry if the group is run as a single lesson. The problem is not the skiing — it is not having someone to resolve that difference in levels before the day starts.
How we split very different levels within one team
Splitting the group by level is only the first step. We take care of the full logistics around the ski day — not just who skis with whom.
What we arrange as standard
The ski day and everything around it, without the organiser having to call anyone.
- Group booking with special corporate rates
- Restaurants and hotels matched to the team's budget and style
- Equipment rental for the whole group
- Spa, meeting rooms and a tasting dinner of Val d'Aran cuisine, if the day calls for it
If the team wants to go beyond the skiing
Tailored après-ski activities, arranged with local businesses in the valley.
- Driving on snow with quattro traction
- A snowmobile outing
- A gourmet tasting day
Our knowledge of the area and of the valley's local businesses means the organiser does not have to arrange any of this themselves — we lock in each element according to the length, the budget and the style that best suits the group.

A real case: ski team building with very different levels in Baqueira
Not long ago we ran two days for a company with very different levels and appetites within the same team. Before heading out onto the slopes, we split the group into three:
Skied wellWith one instructor, at their own pace, with nobody to wait for.
Preferred not to push the paceWith another instructor, on comfortable terrain and with no group pressure.
Complete beginnerWith an instructor to himself, from scratch.
Nobody was left waiting for anybody, and nobody had to fake a level they did not have.
Two days, one team
On the first day we all finished together at 5 Jotas — one of the most iconic on-slope restaurants in Baqueira, with views over the valley and grilled meat. It is in a spot any level can reach, so the conversation over lunch mixed the person who had come down Escornacrabes with the person who had made their first turns that same morning — something that in the office, across departments, almost never happens.
On the second day the goal was different: to reach the Moët & Chandon Ice Lounge together and mark the close of the experience with a gourmet lunch, champagne and a bit of dancing — a looser, more festive mood than day one. Thanks to the private lessons he had had, Joao —the beginner of the group— skied all the way there himself. He was met with spontaneous congratulations from the whole team, the same people who the day before did not even know whether he would manage to get up on the snow: in two days he had gone from never having skied to coming down to the final celebration on his own two feet, and everyone had witnessed every step.
At the end, one instructor stayed on as a guide for anyone who wanted to keep skiing down to 1500 m — the last run of the day, in the late afternoon light, practically alone on the slope, closing the experience together before going their separate ways. For those who preferred to stop, we arranged a taxi straight to the hotel. Rentals, dinners and hotels, all settled in advance.

Alpine's recommendation for groups with different levels
With 24 seasons behind us, from our ski and snowboard school in Baqueira Beret, what we always recommend is the same thing: do not try to put the whole team in one lesson. It is the most common mistake and the one that causes the most frustration — the person who already skis does not enjoy going slowly, and the beginner does not enjoy feeling they are holding everyone up. Three well-planned subgroups cost exactly the same in coordination as one badly planned group, and the result in team bonding is not comparable.

Does the team need to know how to ski to do team building on the snow?
No. In fact, the more mixed the group's level, the more interesting the dynamic tends to be: those who know most end up helping those who are starting, and that gesture —nothing staged about it, it just happens on the slope— is what people remember most when they go back to the office. The only thing that changes with the group's level is how we organise it internally, never whether it is possible at all.
Shall we organise your team building in Baqueira?
Tell us how many of you there are, roughly what levels, and what you are after —skiing only, or food and après-ski activities too— and we will put together a tailored proposal.
